Juara Asian Wave 2012, Shila Amzah, 22, menganggap kemenangan pada pertandingan yang menghimpunkan ramai penyanyi profesional di rantau ini sebagai penantian cukup berbaloi. Ia secara tidak langsung menangkis keraguan segelintir pihak terhadap keupayaannya melangkah ke peringkat antarabangsa.
Akuinya, kemenangan terbesar sepanjang 12 tahun di arena seni suara itu pada malam kemuncak 24 September lalu juga permulaan baginya mempertaruhkan bakat sejauh mungkin, sekali gus menjadi duta kecil negara. Shila Amzah berjaya menonjolkan konsep 1Malaysia pada peringkat akhir pertandingan itu dengan mempersembahkan lagu dalam tiga bahasa yang berjudul Gemilang, nyanyian asal Jaclyn Victor, Grenade oleh Bruno Mars dan ''Zheng Fu'' oleh Na Ying. "Saya juga amat terharu apabila juri mengklasifikasikan saya sebagai superstar, sesuatu yang saya tidak jangkakan. Bagi saya, semua ini hanya permulaan. Selepas ini saya pasti cabaran lebih besar menanti. "Sebelum ini, walau bakat saya diperkecil dan diperlekeh, saya enggan menjawab secara lisan kerana biarlah kemenangan menjadi jawapan atas segala keraguan mereka," katanya

Following her skyrocketing popularity in China, Shila opened a Weibo (Chinese Tweeter) account to interact with her fans. On Tuesday, she tweeted: "I bought so many scarves in Shanghai ... around 36 scarves all together..:) so happy!"
The competition was also participated by finalists from China, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand and India. Shila who went to a Chinese school during her first two years at primary level, has won many new fans, especially among the Chinese both in China and Malaysia after her perfect rendition of the Mandarin song. She has received a few offers from China but has not made any decision on these yet.
Following her success, she has advised that in whatever profession, people need to be patient and persevere as success may take a little longer for some.
Shila's father, a popular singer known as ND Lala in the 1980's, said the success in the competition was not just for her but for all Malaysians. He said Shila deserved the win as she had worked very hard for the competition.
