Participants of the opposition-led rally at Stadium Merdeka this afternoon started holding street demonstrations around Dataran Merdeka and the vicinity of the venue from around 10.45am.
At the Dataran Merdeka-Jalan Raja Laut-Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman confluence, some 40 demonstrators - all donned in green T-shirts - were seen carrying banners and shouting slogans to call for the Lynas advance materials factory in Kuantan, Pahang to stop its operations.
Public sings praises of police
Many Malaysians praised the police on social media for a job well done at KL Rally.
The Royal Malaysia Police Twitter account received a large number of tweets thanking them for ensuring the opposition-led rally did not get out of hand.

The New Sunday Times also observed several rally participants cheering and singing praises at the police with several officers waving back at them, when they passed by the Tun H.S. Lee police station while dispersing.
The policemen were finally granted respite and food, consisting of bread and juice each, for all their hard work after the last few batches of participants left at 5.41pm.
